Culturally we are still very "married" to the idea of "staying married!"

"To Stay or To Go?"

You are probably already struggling to manage all of life’s demands:

Dinner?  Dishes?  Laundry?  All the kids sports, school and social commitments?  Grocery shopping?  Pets?  Forget about your actual job?

But what's truly tipping you over is the stress of a failing relationship?

Maybe there’s been an affair;

Maybe the arguing never ceases;

Maybe all the counseling and couple’s counseling isn’t amounting to any real, sustainable change?

Maybe you want to leave but also can’t imagine ending the relationship?

Maybe you want to stay but can’t bear the devastating trench that exists between you both?

No matter the specific scenario, you’re deeply strangled by the thought of,

“to stay or to go?”

And who do you even say this to?

Maybe you have a therapist?

Maybe you’re seeing a couple’s counselor with your partner?

But none of the anguish is releasing.

Who else is there to talk to?

You've talked to the friends you trust, but they will have their very personal opinions, based on their intimate values, as they're only human.

You've hesitated to share with family because you don't want to worry anyone else and it's easier to pretend you're "fine."

And certainly, you're probably not saying anything to coworkers, though they see you more than your own children.

Nothing is offering any real resolve.

I believe it is because, culturally, we are still very “married” to the idea of “staying married.”

What if the healthiest, most peaceful option for you, your partner and your children is NOT staying married?

Who and where can you honestly have that conversation in a safe, confidential, space with a trained professional who is not married to the system of institutional marriage?

If you’re looking for a trained professional, who can implement alternative approaches in a coaching setting, who can work in tandem and complimentary to the therapeutic supports you may already have,

This morning, as I walked through Newark Airport, I was astonished—in the best way possible! I felt gleeful as I stumbled upon something I had never seen before: an actual mini playground, or better put, a dedicated play space for young children.

Airports aren’t exactly known for being the most family-friendly places. They’re busy, often chaotic, and not always accommodating for parents with babies, toddlers, and young children. But as I walked through the terminal, I made it a point to share genuine smiles with the mothers, fathers, and grandparents navigating their travels with little ones in tow.
